2 IS SCIENCE A TEAM ACTIVITY?
Nuclear Physics: The great marvel, said President Truman, "is not the size of the enterprise, its secrecy or cost, but the achievement of scientific brains in putting together infinitely complex pieces of knowledge held by many men in different fields of science into a workable plan."

5 GROUP 4 PROJECT The group 4 project is a collaborative activity where students from different group 4 subjects work together on a scientific or technological topic, allowing for concepts and perceptions from across the disciplines to be shared in line with aim 10. To encourage an understanding of the relationships between scientific disciplines and the overarching nature of the scientific method.

9 Nature of the Project aim 10—that is, to “encourage an understanding of the relationships between scientific disciplines and the overarching nature of the scientific method”.

10 The group 4 project is assessed for personal skills (PS) (0-6 marks).
Group 4 project counts for laboratory practical hours (10 hours)

11 Choosing a Topic Students choose topic. In order to facilitate action/evaluation phases, projects must be designed such that it can be done in school on January 7, Possible projects may involve certain scientific investigations of the pond environment (near Bldg10) or the courtyard.

14 Action (6 - 9 hours) In order to facilitate the action/evaluation phases, all projects must be done in school on January 7, 2013 (Student holiday).

15 Evaluation (2 – 3 hours) Sharing findings.
Final product will be a poster and/or PowerPoint and oral presentation to be displayed in the Media Center on February 6, 2013.

16 Assessment Will be assessed for the IA personal skills (0-6 marks)
Group members will be asked to assess each group member. Teacher mark will be assigned based on individual assessment of group members.
