1 First World vs Third World
Julie Massey

2 Third World Problems: Children should be safe, not sold into slavery
Everyone needs a place to live – safe housing Everyone needs clean drinking water Education for everyone who wants it The knowledge or ability to plant, grow, and harvest food Freedom to be yourself without worry of persecution for your beliefs

3 First World Problems: When I have to get up early due to daylight savings time When I have to do something and I’m watching my favorite show When the cafeteria serves food I don’t like When my shoes are dirty When I forget to charge my device

4 How to Help: There is an invention called Lifestraw. If I buy one, they send one to someone in need in a third world country. These cool straws allow people to drink from unsafe water – even mud puddles. This way, people who are in need of clean water could have it .

5 First World problem up close:
When the cafeteria serves food I don’t like I chose this as my example of silly first world problems, because we are fortunate to live in a society that has more than enough food. There are many places in the world where one meal a day is not possible. I believe that if you are hungry enough, you will eat anything. We need to find different ways to help people learn to farm and grow their own food, instead of complaining about what we are lucky enough to have.

6 Me as president of the usa:
Although it sounds really cool to be the President, it would be super challenging and at some times, heartbreaking for me. I would try to give every child a free breakfast and lunch, instead of having some students pay for their meals. I would try to find funds for college or trade schools to be free for those who wanted to attend. I would try to have more co-op farming, so food prices could lower and people could get quality foods locally.
