2 General Information World Mixed Team Championship (every two year) Named after First tournament- Dick Sudirman Bung Karno stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia from May 24 to May 29, 1989 committee of management have at least three persons one member of BWF events committee, one from host member association, referee Sudiraman Cup

3 METHODS OF COMPETITION Teams play in sub-groups where all teams play each other. Top twelve ranked teams play in four sub-groups of three. Remaining teams play in groups of eight, organised in two sub-groups of four. Groups for successive competitions The participating teams ranked based on the overall strength of the team. The overall strength of the team is determined based on the World Ranking list.

Ranking and play-offs in the top group Top Group group play off knock out stage qualify two top ranked teams from each sub groups. decide overall winner and runner-up. losing semi-finalist teams ranked joint third. losing quarter-finalist teams ranked joint fifth. teams finishing third in sub groups ranked joint ninth.

6 cont. Ranking and play-offs in other groups winning teams in each sub-group play each other to determine the first and second ranked teams. teams finishing second in each sub-group play each other to determine the third and fourth ranked teams. teams finishing third in each sub-group play each other to determine the fifth and sixth ranked teams. teams finishing bottom in each sub-group play each other to determine the seventh and eighth ranked teams.

No.5 to 8 drawn by lot at the second position of sub-groups. No.9 to 12 drawn by lot at the third position of sub-groups.

9 cont. Knock-out stages Immediately after the last match of the group play off is over. 1 to 4 seeded teams placed in the draw. Remaining teams will be placed in the draw by lot. ¥ Any team withdrawing from the Competition or defaulting after the draw: immediately give a written explanation to the Chief Operating Officer; render themselves liable to such action decided by BWF.

10 CONSTITUTION OF TIES OR TEAMS Each tie decided by the results of One Men s Singles; One Women s Singles; One Men s Doubles; One Women s Doubles; One Mixed Doubles. In group play, all five matches of each tie shall be played. In non-group play, each tie stopped when the tie is decided.

11 NOMINATION OF TEAMS Each competing member association nominate to BWF not fewer than two male players not fewer than not more than two female players total 20 players

14 SUBSTITUTIONS Referee may substitute a player who is incapacitated by illness, accident or other unavoidable hindrance provided that the substitute player / pair is lower ranked than the player / pair being replaced. The ranking of the players / pairs not ranked in the World Ranking shall be at the discretion of the Referee, a substituted player shall not take part in that tie.

15 DISQUALIFICATION Fails to report its arrival for the Competition within stipulated time or Fail to attend any briefing meeting called by the Referee. The Referee have power to disqualify at any stage of the Competition: Failed to carry out its obligations or breaches the Rules and Regulations of the BWF; or Breaching the Anti-Doping Regulations.
