4. Newspaper Editing
Two copies of Hamilton Advertiser needed – one for odd pages the other for even pages.
Articles selected and snipped from pages in order (roughly).
Article selection is done according to a strict policy.
Articles placed in sequence in 15 wallets.
Wallets delivered to Studio by 6.30 pm.

5. Studio Processes
Reading team equipped with individual lavalier (lapel) microphones.
Each reads alternately from the wallets.
Simultaneous master recordings are made on separate Cassette and Digital recorders.
The studio engineer will edit and produce a ‘copy ready’ Master Cassette version in real time.
The simultaneously produced Master Digital recording is produced ‘raw’ and requires later editing.

6. Cassette Duplication
The Master Cassette is loaded into a High Speed Cassette Duplicator.
The Duplicator can simultaneously copy up to 7 listener’s cassette tapes at 16 times normal playback speed.
Production rate is about 60 copies per hour.
The listener’s cassettes are placed in plastic, padded wallets which are sealed by a Velcro strip at one end and which have reversible address labels.

7. Digital Editing & Duplication
The raw digital recording (on an MP3 computer file) is edited to be the equivalent of the Cassette Master Recording.
This is then further processed by specially written software to produce all of the files and formats required for:
Duplicating on to listener’s USB Flash disks for playback on a Hamilton Sound special HSplayer or ordinary MP3 playback device
Uploading to the Hamilton Sound Web site for streaming, downloading, podcasting or internet radio broadcast.

8. Listening to Hamilton Sound
Hamilton Sound can be enjoyed by listeners in a variety of ways.
From Cassette tape on an ordinary Cassette Player.
From USB Flash Disk on a Hamilton Sound HSplayer or ordinary MP3 player.
By accessing the ‘Listen’ page on the HS website (the programme streams to the listener’s web browser).
By downloading the file to the listener’s computer. The program can then be transferred to an MP3 player such as an iPod for playback.
By subscribing to the Hamilton Sound Podcast – new programmes are automatically sent to subscribers as soon as they become available.
By listening to the programme on internet radio.
