3. The Oakland Catholic Track and Field Team had a great showing at the WPIAL Championships this weekend. There are 200 competiors in each of the 18 events chasing the Championship. The Eagles were represented in the finals of several events. Lauren Finikiotis finished 10th in a highly superstar 1600. The 1600 Relay of Taylor Renk, Jayla Coppetta, Maria DeRenzo, and Taylor McCorkle finished 12th. Olivia Rowe was 6th in the Triple Jump, she medaled The 3200 Relay Team of Makenzie Zeh, Lauren Finikiotis, Sophie Means, and Maria DeRenzo finished 5th. This 3200 Relay Team missed the State Championship by 2 seconds and medaled. The best of all was Taylor McCorkle won both the 100 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash, in doing so she broke the school record with a time of 11.6. Taylor will run for the State Championship this Saturday at Shippensburg University. Congratulations to all of the team members for a job well done.
