3 Reading Strategy Distinguishing Fact vs. Opinion
With your partner, reread what Janell, Jenny, and Christian have to say about living in two cultures. Look for opinions that each person states. Look for signal words. On each note card, write the opinions that each of the three states. G. Hughes, Virgil MS

4 Beyond Color Lines Stating Your Own Opinion
For each opinion you wrote on the chart, write one complete sentence that states your opinion and the reason you feel that way. EXAMPLE: I agree with Christian that it is important to look at the way people are similar because there are many things that we all have in common. G. Hughes, Virgil MS

7 The One and Only You Writing a self-portrait
Write a three paragraph self-portrait describing yourself. In paragraph one, tell who you are, where you are from, and what you like to do. In paragraph two, explain a custom that makes your culture special to you. In paragraph three, explain how living in two cultures is difficult or easy. Tell what you think and how you feel. Explain how it is difficult or easy.
