1 Trikala Trikala, the national smart city “flagship”, aims to become a leading European smart city in terms of openness, usefulness, efficiency and tech-talents’ generation What are we doing today? The city is the Greek leading smart city, with several deployed ICT innovations. More specifically, Trikala Municipality developed a citizen self-service machine, launched numerous ICT courses and campaigns, installed several smart services and became a 5G pilot. Trikala Municipal Council adopted the “Trikala 2025 Strategy" in 2015, which envisions a smart, resilient and efficient city. The Municipal Smart City department aims to standardize and engage companies and the community Local stakeholders are willing to collaborate The city tries to develop a coherent community, to encourage innovation development and testing. ICT infrastructure (Wi-Fi, LoRa and 5G) developed a IoT-ready city; numerous data-streams are free; processes and consultations are open; spaces are shared to the community (music studio; web radio; sport centers; museums; cultural centers).
