POSITIVE COACHING SCOTLAND STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES Overview Evaluating strengths and weaknesses is a valuable process that can help in the planning of training programs and the identification of long-term goals as a focus for player/athlete improvement. Ask the players/athletes to complete the strength and weakness profile and write down their key strengths across individual areas (technical, tactical, mental and physical). This then presents an opportunity to discuss a plan of how the player/athlete can address their weaknesses – make it clear that having a weakness is a positive, because with coaching, they will improve. You can adapt the template to suit the age and development of the young people you work with, you may decide to just have one or two columns. You can edit the text in the template to suit your sport. You can insert your own club logo. You can then print out the template for use.
