1 CTE Strong Workforce Taskforce Implementation-Workforce Data
Wheeler North, Applied Aeronautics San Diego Miramar College Lynell Wiggins, CTE Counselor Pasadena City college CTE Strong Workforce Taskforce Implementation-Workforce Data Newport You can access a suite of training, tools, technical assistance, and funding to support the integration of CTE data into college processes like program review, planning, and accreditation. This session will walk you through the resources available through CTE Data Unlocked, including short videos, reference guides, and workshop opportunities. You will leave with a better understanding of how to assess labor market information, which data tools can answer your questions, and how to interpret information on employment and earnings.

3 Brief History 1984 – Present, Federal funding (Perkins, Financial Aid, Etc.) has required performance data, hopefully showing improvements. 1991 – Present, State EWD requirements include assessing and achieving benchmarks. 2005 – Present SB 70/1070 and numerous other legislated funding efforts require quantifiable improvements. Accreditation standards ever-increasingly mandate well informed decision-making.

4 Strong Workforce Task Force
BOG and CCCCO formed a task force focusing on CTE needs which led to 25 recommendations (3 focused on data.) 4. Create common workforce metrics for all state- funded CTE programs and expand the definition of student success 5. Establish a student identifier to enable California to track workforce progress and outcomes for students across institutions and programs. 6. Improve student outcome and labor market data.

What decisions are we making that could be better informed? Are there levels of data and what are these?  What is currently being done to get that information? What are the gaps, what do we not know but need to know? What is currently known to be erroneous data?

Program Advisory Board is requesting the college expand or change a specific CTE program – what data do you need to support and validate this request? What is the best way to present this case? Who is the case being presented to, that will be deciding to invest additional resources into the expansion? What local data sources can and should be utilized?
