Psalms – we are studying the Psalms because: 1. We are commanded to sing them; 2. We are commanded to bring them to each other (1 Cor. 14:26); 3. They teach us about the Kingdom (Acts 13:33) Psalm 4

4 Psalms of Persecution Many Psalms are prayers for relief - Against tribulations - Against persecution We are able to make these our own In this psalm the eternal king is part of the conversation. He is established by God, and set on the Holy Hill of Zion. The Kingdom too is present, as that which overcomes the nations

"But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.” Matthew 5:22

For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances; Corinthians 12:20

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: …. enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, …and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God Galatians 5:19-21

18 Overcoming Anger Works of the Flesh Fruits of the Spirit
are overcome by Fruits of the Spirit

19 Overcoming Anger For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh….. but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control Galatians 5:17,22
