Activity 1 Creating a simple query in the Design View In this activity, we are going to create queries in the Design View which will extract records from the tables ‘CPU’. Copy the database file ch11_01.mdb from the Learning CD-ROM to the hard disk. Start Microsoft Access and open the database file ch11_01.mdb. Click ‘Queries’ in the ‘Objects’ column and then click New

Activity 1 Creating a simple query in the Design View Double-click ‘Design View’ in the ‘New Query’ dialogue box. Double-click ‘CPU’ in the ‘Show Table’ dialogue box to add the table into the Design View window. Then, click to continue. Close

Activity 1 Creating a simple query in the Design View Click from the pull down menu in the row ‘Field’ of the first column. Then, select the field ‘Brand’ to add the field to the Design View window. Add two more fields ‘Product’ and ‘Socket’ to the Design View window.

Activity 1 Creating a simple query in the Design View Enter ‘LGA771’ into the criteria box of the ‘Socket’ field. Select ‘Queries’  ‘Run’ to execute the query. Alternatively, click the ‘Run’ button on the toolbar. The query result will be displayed in the Datasheet View.

Activity 1 Creating a simple query in the Design View Select ‘File’  ‘Save’ to save the query. Enter the query name ‘LGA771 Query’ in the ‘Save As’ dialogue box and then click Close the query and the database file. Then, exit Microsoft Access. OK

Activity 1 Creating a simple query in the Design View Select ‘File’  ‘Save’ to save the query. Enter the query name ‘LGA771 Query’ in the ‘Save As’ dialogue box and then click Close the query and the database file. Then, exit Microsoft Access. OK
