Point – Why do they differ?
The interpretations differ because of the author’s purpose. E.
Interpretation 1 is written by ex-Minister for weapons Albert Speer in 1960, which he wrote in prison, whereas the author of interpretation 2 is a socialist journalist.
Evidence – pick evidence from both interpretations
The background of each author would create a differing interpretation because Albert Speer would be attempting to justify and rationalise his actions in Nazi Germany in order to gain sympathy and understanding by showing Hitler’s appeal. Victor Schiff on the other hand being a socialist, one of the Nazi’s many victims, would feel a lasting resentment towards the regime and want to paint them in a negative light. E.
