COURSE OBJECTIVES Review Case Comparison
Setup Case Comparison function How to Read the setup table To correlate the Case Comparison Setup with Some QA reports

Case Comparison Setup The Case Comparison Setup option enables you to establish the criteria that the system uses to automatically select cases to flag for QA rescreening and review. * QA Reports - Create and maintain a series of case criteria used to automatically flag qualifying cases for the corresponding Case Review report. * Follow Up - Create and maintain a series of case criteria used to automatically flag qualifying cases for follow up. * Follow Up Letters - Create and maintain a series of case criteria used to automatically generate a follow up letter after sign out depending on specific diagnosis category. * Proreview - Create and maintain a series of case criteria used to automatically flag qualifying cases for proreview. * Rescreen - Create and maintain a series of case criteria used to automatically flag qualifying cases for rescreening. * Retroreview - Create and maintain a series of case criteria used to automatically flag qualifying cases for retroreview.

High Risk If High Risk is flagged it will only capture cases flagged as high risk. The first, allows a patient to be flagged as "high risk" by adding a risk factor to the Risk Factor tab in Patient Maintenance. The second way, the patient can be flagged as "high risk" based on the Diagnosis Category entered on a case. The third way, is to manually mark the high risk checkbox on the Patient tab in Patient Maintenance.

Setup For QA Summary Report
Set up two scenarios for case comparison. To do this, access the Case Comparison option by selecting Setup > Case Comparison Setup from the main menu. Select Rescreen from the Comparison Type drop-down list. Click the New button on the SoftPath toolbar. Add one scenario for all GYN abnormal cases. Save the scenario and then click New and create another scenario for GYN cases with a reactive diagnosis category in the Current Case Type column. All diagnosis groups, diagnosis categories, and diagnosis codes for reactive and malignant codes should be flagged as abnormal. PATH- Ensure that the correct diagnosis category is associated with all cases. Case types with the Abnormal checkbox marked in setup and/or a reactive diagnosis category will qualify for rescreening. Pathologists should then perform the QA rescreening procedure and change the diagnosis if necessary before signing the case out.
19
The QA Summary Report includes the rescreening procedure information for all cases in a log or report format. Access this report by selecting Reports > QA Reports > QA Summary The report above was created using the Report format.

The report is displayed in SoftReports

QA Correlation Report Comparison of Abnormal GYN with Histology
The cases selected by the comparison should be rescreened. Set up a scenario for case comparison. To do this, access the Case Comparison option by selecting Setup > Case Comparison Setup from the main menu. The Case Comparison Setup window displays similar to that shown in Figure 9. Select Rescreen from the Comparison Type drop-down list. Click New on the toolbar and select a current case type of GYN abnormal and a previous case type of Surgical from the GYN source family.

Review of Current High Grade or Higher with Previous GYN
Data Retrieval The QA Correlation Report prints coded discrepancies for review. Access this report by selecting Reports > QA Reports > QA Correlation Report from the main menu. In the Procedure field, select Rescreen. In the Scenario field, select the case comparison scenario you defined for this section.
23
Setup Setup Set up a scenario for case comparison. Access the Case Comparison Setup option by selecting Setup > Case Comparison Setup from the main menu. The Case Comparison Setup window displays similar to that shown in Figure 10. Select Follow Up from the Comparison Type drop-down list. Click New on the toolbar and select a current case type of GYN with a diagnosis category of HG and a previous case type of GYN normal. In the next row, select a current case type of GYN with a diagnosis category of PO and a previous case type of GYN normal. NOTE: The diagnosis categories shown below are from the model database. If you have edited this file, take this into consideration when setting up these comparisons.
24
Reports > QA Reports > QA Correlation Report
Cases will be flagged based on the options you define during setup. When the current case is signed out, the follow up correlation can be completed. A QA code can also be entered for each previous case.
25
DeFined Letters Setup > Setup Files > Define Letters from the main menu. Enter a code and title for the letter and click Document to format the letter and insert the appropriate data codes according to your needs. Refer to the SoftPath User Manual for more information. In the Source setup file for surgical cases, a parent of GYN should be set up. This parent source should then be added to all surgical sources from that organ group. In the Source setup file, the Biopsy checkbox should be marked for surgical sources from a GYN family. Access the Case Comparison option (Setup > Case Comparison Setup). Select Retroreview from the Comparison Type drop-down list. PATH- Abnormal GYN cases should have a follow up letter associated with them. The follow up letter can be added to the case in the Specimen Registration options, Query options, or Sign Out Entry options. The Abnormal Cytology w/o Biopsy Log should be printed for review and to determine which pending follow up letters should to be sent. You can print follow up letters in the Scheduler option or you can print them manually at set intervals from the Result Report option.
26
All retroreview QA procedures should also be completed.
Data Retrieval The Result Report option can be used to document the printing of follow up letters. Access this option by selecting Reports > Result Report from the main menu. Click the Letters tab and enter a date range to search for printed letters. You can print a list of cases without follow up GYN biopsy by using the Abnormal Cytology w/o Biopsy Log (Reports > QA Reports > Abnormal Cytology w/o Biopsy). The QA Correlation Report (Reports > QA Reports > QA Correlation Report) can be used to retrieve data for the retroreview QA procedure.
27
Non-Gynecologic Findings with Histology Findings
Use the Case Comparison option to create retroreview scenarios for current case types of MED cytology and previous case types of surgical for specific organ types/specimens or others as above. This may require modification of the Source setup file for MED cytology and surgical cases so that parent sources for organ types are defined. Access the Case Comparison option by selecting Setup > Case Comparison Setup from the main menu.

QA Correlation Report Reports > QA Reports > QA Correlation from the main menu. The QA Correlation Report window displays similar to that shown in Figure 24. When you enter the search criteria, select Retroreview from the Procedures drop-down list and select the case comparison scenario from the Scenario drop-down list. Enter any other applicable search criteria and then click run
