1 “Wellbeing in junior cycle is about young people
feeling confident, happy, healthy and connected” Here at LCC Wellbeing matters for education. We have an ethic of care at the heart of teaching and learning in this school. We understand that wellbeing is realised in a community and offer our students the opportunity to learn about wellbeing and for wellbeing.

2 Wellbeing – an area of learning including P.E., S.P.H.E. and C.S.P.E
2 periods of PE Our incoming first years will complete a minimum of 300 hours of Wellbeing over three years as per NCCA guidelines 1 period of CSPE 1 period of SPHE Guidance

3 Assessment Phased implementation of the new Junior Cycle. The vision of the Junior Cycle is that it will be a programme of learning that places students at the centre of the educational experience, enabling them to actively participate in their communities and in society and to be resourceful and confident learners in all aspects and stages of their lives.

4 Classroom Based Assessment
Classroom-Based Assessments have been introduced to allow students to demonstrate their understanding of concepts and skills and their ability to apply them in ways that may not be possible in an externally assessed examination. Introduced in all subjects and short courses. One in 2nd year and one in 3rd year. One part of the 3rd year assessment will contribute 10% to the final assessment Classroom

5 State Certified Examination
Two hours duration in June. Administered and marked by the State Examinations Commission. Marked according to distinction (≥90 to 100) higher merit (≥75 to 89) merit (≥55 to 74) achieved (≥40 to 54)

6 The Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement
Classroom Based Assessments incl. Short Courses Wellbeing The new Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement will replace the Junior Certificate, giving students the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge a wider range of knowledge and skills – to equip them for further learning, for work, for responsible and active citizenship, and for healthy living. Other Areas of Learning State certified examinations
