1 BAD SECTOR PHOTOLAB Presents
Good afternoon. I am Serra Sinem Tekiroğlu. Today I and my friend Serap Atılgan will present you the Photolab Project of Bad Sector. Bad Sector

2 BAD SECTOR Project Title: PHOTOLAB Project Topic: Photogrammetry Lab
Team Members: Serap ATILGAN Meryem AYAS Serra S. TEKİROĞLU Hanife ÜNAL Assistant: Murat YÜKSELEN Sponsor Company: Before starting, I want to introduce Bad Sector. Our team members are Serap Atılgan, Hanife Ünal, Meryem Ayas, and me Serra Sinem Tekiroğlu. We carry on Photolab Project in collaboration with Milsoft. Our assistant Murat Yükselen helps us in this hard process. Bad Sector

3 OUTLINE Photogrammetry PHOTOLAB Modules & Features Demo & Questions
GUI Project Manager Demo & Questions Now it is time to start to give brief information about Photolab Project. Since we are the first group to represent Photolab I will describe you the contents of the Photogrammetry process. Then I will explain current solutions , the features of Photolab Project and at last why photolab will be preferred in the market. Bad Sector

4 What is Photogrammetry?
Firstly I want to talk about photogrammetry. Photogrammetry is to get reliable information about physical objects of photographic images. For instance , photogrammetry is used while we need to convert 2 dimensional image into a 3 dimensional one. Therefore we can find the correct location and elevation of a point in earth using photogrammetry in multiple images taken from different positions. When we narrow down the scope of photogrammetry to our Project, we face with the images collected by unmanned air vehicles(UAVs). These images can be used for many areas such as military, civil or Geographic Information System(GIS) applications. However in order to make use of these images in these areas, we need to process images to get meaningful outputs. After processing we will have four different output types. First one is mosaic. In mosaic Photolab merges small related images into a bigger one. Second output is Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Dem is simply a digital representation of a surface. Third one is Orthophoto. It is a geometrically corrected image. And last output is Super Resolution which means to get higher resolution images from low resolutions one. My friend Serap Atılgan will talk about these outputs in detail at Photolab Features part.

5 Sub Modules of Photogrammetry
Mosaic Sub Module Orthophoto Sub Module DEM (Digital Elevation Model) Sub Module Firstly I want to talk about photogrammetry. 6 Automatic Mosaic Manual Mosaic World File Mosaic
MOSAIC Sub Module Automatic Mosaic Manual Mosaic World File Mosaic According to this features we designed photolab in modular architecture. There are 3 modules. Bad Sector

7 Automatic Mosaic Algorithm
Find Corners by NCC Detect Matching Corners Eliminate Outliers (RANSAC) Get Best Homography Matrix Interpolate Image First module is GUI. GUI provides user manual and automatic modes. It also supports multiple image handling and visual layout options. In addition GUI has image enhancement and preproccessing menus. Bad Sector

8 Manual Mosaic Algorithm
Select Points Manually Get Best Homography Matrix Register Image Interpolate Image First module is GUI. GUI provides user manual and automatic modes. It also supports multiple image handling and visual layout options. In addition GUI has image enhancement and preproccessing menus. Bad Sector

9 World File Mosaic Algorithm
Read World Coordinates Get Homography Matrix Interpolate Image First module is GUI. GUI provides user manual and automatic modes. It also supports multiple image handling and visual layout options. In addition GUI has image enhancement and preproccessing menus. Bad Sector

10 ORTHOPHOTO Sub Module . You can see in this slide, multiple images can be shown in cascading Windows or in a common grid. Bad Sector

11 ORTHOPHOTO Algorithm Construct a Rotation Matrix Scaling
Geographical Registration Construct a Rotation Matrix (Omega-Phi-Kappa) Scaling Transformation You can see an image before and after enhancements. Since photogrammetry works on different and multiple images, Photolab may need enhancement on images according to the current properties of images. For instance, if two images have been taken in different hours of the day, we may need to arrange the brightness of the images. Bad Sector

12 DEM Sub Module Second module of Photolab is file system module. This module is responsible of handling basic file operations and also it provides working on various image types by converting them into Bitmap. In addition Photolab uses video formats as input. It extracts images from video stream and prepare them to be processed. Photolab also supports worldfile format. Worldfile is data file used by geographic information systems to contain world coordinate information of the image. Photolab assumes worldfile as an attachement to the image. Bad Sector

13 Epipolar Rectification Block Bounded Adjustment
DEM Algorithm Epipolar Rectification Block Bounded Adjustment The last and the most important module of Photolab is Photogrammetry Module. It is basically formed of four submodules, namely DEM, Orthophoto, Mosaic and Super Resolution. Lets see the submodules more detailed step by step. Bad Sector

14 PROJECT PROGRESS Photogrammetry Module GUI Module :
Mosaic SubModule : %90 Orthophoto SubModule : %80 DEM SubModule : %0 GUI Module : Image Enhancement : %95 Basic Toolbar : %90 Project Manager Module :%100 The first submodule is Digital Elevation Model. DEM simply brings depth as third dimension to a 2 dimensional aerial image. Photolab takes one or more images as input and estimates the height of each point in these images. As an output we obtain exact location of the whole image in earth surface. Since multiple images mean more overlapped points we can get more correct results by applying DEM on more than one image.
