1 Monsters on the Loose A Map Quest

2 Introduction A series of disturbing and unnatural events have been happening all around the world. Law enforcement officers are baffled by this seemingly relentless stream of supernatural crime. They need your help in order to put an end to this reign of terror. Detectives have put together case files and suspects for you to go over. They plead with you to solve these mysteries and finally put the culprits behind bars. 

3 Your Job Your job is to go over the detective's case files and research the suspects. You will identify the culprit for each crime based on the evidence and what you know about the suspects. You will fill out a worksheet as you research the suspects. On this worksheet you will record who you think is guilty and why. After you have solved all the mysteries, you will create one of your own. You will create a monster and write a story about that monster and one of his/her/its worst crimes. The rubric for this story is provided with the worksheet. Good luck!

4 Case #1: Stone Cold Location: Greece
Victim: Various but all were males. Ages of victims: Ranging from childhood to old age. Incident Report: Twelve statues have appeared Athens matching the descriptions of missing persons reported in the area.

6 Case #2: The Poisoned Bride
Location: Russia Victim: Nastia Yeshevsky Age: 22 Incident Report: Nastia Yeshevsky was in her room getting ready for her wedding when a great wind came through her window and swept her up. Her body was found this morning with puncture wounds in her skin and poison in her veins. The autopsy suggests that she was sleeping at the time of death.

8 Case #3: The Frostbitten Tourist
Location: Canada Victim: Robert Smith Age: 45 Event: Event: A tourist to Canada was found in a pond. He claims that a woman chased him onto the frozen pond where the ice gave way. He was only up to his knees but he claims to have too frightened to get out of the water. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, unconscious whispering "her face, so white" and "I don't know where she's buried" over and over again. When he regained consciousness, he told doctors of a ghostly woman all in white who forced him into the water and forbade him leaving.

10 Congratulations Detective
You have solved all of our monster mysteries. Now it is your turn. Create a monster. Describe this monster in great detail. Draw a picture of this monster. Write a one to three page story about one of your monster’s sinister crimes. READ THE RUBRIC ON THE WORKSHEET it will tell you everything that MUST be included in your story.
