10 Example Article James Oglethorpe and a group of about 120 people from Great Britain arrived on the coast of the new Georgia colony on February 12, The ship, Ann, landed at Yamacraw Bluff where they were met by the Yamacraw Indians and their Chief Tomochichi. Oglethorpe envisioned a colony where the “worthy poor” could start a new life free from debt.
