Buildings contain backbone cable (fiber or coax) to connect every floor's wiring closet. A hub and/or switch in each wiring closet, to network each lab/office in a star configuration.
Moving away from hubs, towards switches only (10/100 switches)
Campus backbone is based on fiber, switches and 1 gigabit ethernet

Ethernet based (10/100/1000), tcp/ip only. Enhanced cat 5e TP wire.
Carry data, voice, and cable/video. Joint project with Bell Atlantic (Verizon).
Includes OC3 link (155Mbps) from Camden to N.B./Internet.
