Services Fastrack Student support Edge Hill University are committed to providing support for students while studying on their Fastrack course. Funding is available for students that meet the pre-defined eligibility criteria outlined in this presentation. Money Advice

3 Eligibility for Fastrack Funding
Student Services Eligibility for Fastrack Funding Fastrack Funding eligibility is broken down into four categories: Single students Students with a partner Single parents Students with a partner and children Money Advice

4 Fastrack Student support
Services Fastrack Student support Funding is available to eligible students, as a contribution towards the cost of: Travel to University – for days in attendance on the course. Contribution to childcare costs whilst on course (over and above any free childcare provision) Support with Hall Fee (If travel costs are more than £74 per week) after passing the income eligibility criteria. *Please note – whether you are eligible to apply will be depend on an assessment carried out your Gross Income and your partner’s Gross Income (if applicable)* Money Advice

5 Eligibility for Fastrack Funding
In receipt of Working Tax Credits In receipt of an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate In receipt of Housing Benefit In receipt of the maximum rate of Child Tax Credit In receipt of income or contribution based JSA or income or contribution related ESA In receipt of Universal Credit basic allowance, housing or child element Funding is also potentially available for students that receive gross income from paid work or from a pension income. The gross income depends on whether a person is single, living with a partner or has children.

6 Eligibility – Household Gross Income
Funding is also potentially available for students that receive gross income from paid work or from a pension income. Income Thresholds. The income thresholds depend on whether a person is single, living with a partner or has children. Please note if you are not in paid employment during the Fastrack course your income will be classed as zero and will not be included in the assessment of your Household Gross Income. Please provide evidence that you are no longer in employment, for example a P45 or letter from your previous employer stating the last day of employment.

7 Eligibility – Household Gross Income
The income thresholds depends on whether a person is single, living with a partner or has children. Allowances are given for additional children. Category Gross Income Threshold Additional Children *For each extra child the threshold is increased by £2000 Single £16,845 or less Single parent and one dependent child £18,845 or less 2 children = £20,845 or less 3 children = £22,845 or less 4 children = £24,845 or less Student and partner Student and partner and one dependent child £20,845 or less 2 children = £22,845 or less 3 children = £24,845 or less 4 children = £26,845 or less

8 Student Services Halls of Residence (1) Students that meet the eligibility criteria for Fastrack funding may be eligible to receive a contribution towards university hall fees. (2) If your travel costs are more than £74 per week, we may be able to make a contribute towards the cost of staying in our halls of residence. * If you are considering university accommodation please contact the Money Advice Team to discuss whether you would be likely to receive support with Hall Fees BEFORE you sign up for a place in halls.* Money Advice

9 Evidence Required: The evidence required relates to evidence of gross income or benefits. It also requests evidence of a person’s single status or status as living with a partner and whether they have children. The Application Form lists the evidence required. Here are a few examples of evidence required. I am single, work part time and live with my parents? I will be travelling by public transport Evidence : Please provide your last three monthly wage slips (Gross Income) and an average will be taken. Plus a bill, such as mobile phone bill to show your postal address and your parents Council Tax Statement or Mortgage/Tenancy Agreement with their names on (single status). Please include a public transport daily return ticket (travel). I am single, work part time but will not be working joining Fastrack and have a child? I will be travelling by car. Evidence : Just a P45 or letter from employer saying you have left employment, a Council Tax or Tenancy Agreement/Mortgage statement and Child Benefit, or Birth Certificate or full Tax Credits Letter displaying the child’s name. Please provide a Car Insurance Certificate and an AA Route Finder print out displaying the mileage from home to university (travel). If you require childcare please ask your provider to complete the Childcare Form.

10 How to Apply for Fastrack Funding
There is one Fastrack Fund 2019 Application Form. The form includes an evidence checklist, to help you provide the correct financial paperwork that we will require. There is an additional page, if relevant, for Childcare Costs. The form will be made available nearer the time to the course start dates. Print the form off, complete and gather the required financial evidence. Scan the form and it in together with scanned copies of the required evidence to: . Please use in the subject line ‘Fastrack Fund Application- Feb starters’ . Alternatively, you can send the application in by Registered Post to the address at the end of this presentation. Or you can also bring the application form and evidence to Fastrack Enrolment on the 30th Jan The closing date for Fastrack Fund applications is Wednesday 6th February 2019 by 5PM Money Advice

11 Notification of Application
Student Services Notification of Application Notification of your Fastrack Funding application will be sent to you via . If you are assessed as eligible for the fund you will receive two payments spread throughout the course. The will also detail the payment dates. Please note that you will not receive any funding upfront. If you receive help towards accommodation, the money will be paid directly to the Hall Fees Team. Money Advice
