2 MLA Formatting Basic Rules
ANYTHING you include in your essay that is not common knowledge (even if you already knew it) MUST be cited. Otherwise it’s PLAGIARISM. You already have an annotated bibliography (that you’ll include at the end of your essay when you turn it in on Monday). Work backward from here for your in-text citations. The in-text citation and the annotated bibliography (works cited page) are CONNECTED. Your in-text citation helps your reader find the corresponding entry on your annotated bibliography. In-text, put the FIRST thing that appears on that source’s AB entry. Insert if…then… statements here 

3 MLA Formatting Expert Tips
You don’t HAVE to use parenthetical citations if you include all the information inside your sentence. Vary your syntax. Be aware of how much of your paper is direct quotes. This is YOUR writing, supported by sources. Balance is important!! Use a variety of evidence types (facts, statistics, anecdotes, graphs, credible studies, etc.) Have a conversation between your sources. Use more than one source in a body paragraph. Explain the connections, or the disparities, between your sources.
