Greatest writer in the English language Greatest play writer of all time Few known facts about Shakespeare’s life Renaissance period: 14th-17th century renewed interest in Science, philosophy, and the arts A new way of life: focus on the individual and freedom of choice The Renaissance was a cultural movement that spanned the period roughly from the 14th to the 17th century. The Elizabethan era was in the 16th century. The Elizabethan era was in the Renaissance era and some would regard the Elizabethan era as the height of the Renaissance era.

Shakespeare was baptized on April 26, 1564 Stratford-on-Avon: a small town about 90 miles northwest of London We can guess that Shakespeare was born on April 23rd because it was custom to be baptized 3 days after your birth. Look at the boarder of Stratford- on- Avon. What does this look like? A heart? This is ironic because this the where you can say the heart of the English language was born.
