2 Interdisciplinary Research
Todd Petty, PhD Interdisciplinary Research Natural Stream Channel Design and Ecological Function I represent the stream ecologist on a team of researchers that includes: ecologists, geomorphologists, hydrologists, and engineers. Our group takes an integrated approach to assessing morphological and ecological impairment to streams and designing optimal remediation programs. Watershed Restoration and Management in Mined Watersheds I work with a group of researchers that include mine engineers, geohydrologists, geochemists, and chemical modelers. Our research group takes an integrated approach to assessing chemical and ecological impairment to streams from mining and uses this information to design optimal watershed scale restoration programs. Spatial Genetic Structure of Brook Trout in Central Appalachians I work with geneticists to quantify fine-scale spatial structure of brook trout populations and link to patterns of dispersal, survivorship, and reproduction in central Appalachian watersheds.
