11 SEPTEMBER 30 / OCTOBER 1 PRESENTATIONS
Follow-up accountability on mid-term presentations: Fellow students will write down any questions during presentation regarding specific slides (make sure slides are numbered). Write down any question that you orally ask. Questions will be distributed to each team and each team will have one week to answer them. Answer what you feel are good questions Discuss why you think that bad questions are not appropriate or misunderstood Transcribe and address all questions and comments: Due Monday, October 13, 2008 4/25/2019 MAE 4291

12 WEDNESDAY LECTURE Hazard Analysis (§3.0) with Project Description due to Mr. Greg Peebles Guest Speaker: Mr. Frank Pagano, Boeing/KSC 3 reasons for guest speaker: Job opportunities for graduating seniors Topic that is of issue in industry/work place: communitcation and ABET: Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology 4/25/2019 MAE 4291

13 DIFFICULT PROGRAM CRITERIA
F: An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility. H: Have a broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context. I: Recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning. J: Knowledge of contemporary issues. Not enough to ‘teach’ these topics – must measure! How should we do this? Think of some assignments within the context of senior design to address F, H, I, and J. Mini in-class assignment for Wednesday’s guest lecture. 4/25/2019 MAE 4291

14 INDIVIDUAL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT
This homework assignment is based on the guest lecture by Mr. Frank Pagano on October 8, 2008, entitled: TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION: USE OF IN THE AEROSPACE ENGINEERING WORKPLACE Answer the following questions (about 1 paragraph each): What are some items that you learned about effective communication from the presentation? Specifically, how did this presentation provide new insights into your current and future ‘professional and ethical responsibilities’ when using as a communication tool? How do you perceive the world of science and engineering is impacted by instantaneous, world-wide communication using ? For example, what do you perceive the global and societal impact of tools like , internet, video conferencing, etc. to be. Effective communication over is certainly a contemporary issue, and one that engineers of 10 or 20 years ago did not have to worry about. What are some other examples of contemporary issues that exist today which require unique approaches to communication? For example, how do you think PowerPoint, the internet, spreadsheets, etc., have helped and hindered effective communication? Suggest a few key points that can be extracted from the lecture that provide evidence for the need of an ability to engage in life-long learning. For example, how important is it to stay current and up to date on modern communication tools like and video conferencing? How can you and your team employ some of the lessons from the lecture in your communications that are related to senior design? 4/25/2019 MAE 4291
