3. The FBI
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the top law enforcement agency.
They investigate all federal crimes and crimes where jurisdiction crosses states.
The FBI also handles terrorist acts.
They protect against espionage from other countries, cyber-crimes, crimes of high-technology, corrupt officials of government, civil rights, organized crime, major white-collar crimes, and major violent crimes.
The FBI was established in 1908.

4. The CIA The Central Intelligence Agency.
Investigates foreign affairs, terrorism, and espionage.
The CIA is an independent agency and it provides intelligence to the senior policymakers of out country.
The CIA has four “branches” of sorts that together carry out the “intelligence cycle.”
The intelligence they provide influences our foreign policies that policymakers create.
The intelligence they get is given to the president each day in the President’s Daily Brief (PDB).
It was created after World War II in 1947.

5. CDC The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
One of the biggest operating agencies of the Department of Health and Human Services.
The job of the CDC is to create information, tools, and trained officials to protect the health of the people.
They conduct scientific research to fully understand diseases and epidemics.
They are to do this through health promotion, prevention of disease, injury, and disability, and preparing people for any new threats to their health.
Created on July 1, 1946 in Atlanta Georgia.

6. IRS The Internal Revenue Service.
The IRS is a bureau of the Department of Treasury.
The IRS job is to help tax payers with the tax laws, and to ensure that those unwilling to pay taxes, do pay.
They have full authority to enforce internal revenue laws and to make an agency to enforce them.

7. FEMA Federal Emergency Management Association.
The goal of FEMA is to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.
Established on March 1, 2003

8. EPA Environmental Protection Agency
The goal of the EPA is to protect our environment from hazardous wastes.
The EPA was created by congress in 1970.
