2 Evaluation – P.E.S How to write a good evaluation. The ‘PES’ structure: Point, Explain/Evidence, So what? E.G. P: One limitation of the deviation from social norms definition is that social norms change over time. E: For example, it used to be the norm for people to smoke in public places however this has now changed. S: This means using deviation from social norms as a way of defining abnormality is problematic as it may lead to inaccurate labelling of abnormality.

3 Evaluation skills: How do we evaluate the Approaches
Strengths of the approach e.g. makes use of the scientific method. Limitations of the approach e.g. fails to explain aspects of behaviour. Contributions made to understanding human behaviour. Practical/useful applications. Issues and debates linked to the approach. Comparisons with another approaches.

4 Evaluation skills: How do we evaluate explanations or theories of behaviour?
Evidence – supporting/contradicting Evaluation of supporting evidence What are the limitations of the explanation? E.g. Does it fail to explain any aspect of the behaviour? Why is this a good explanation? Practical/useful applications Comparison of explanation with another Relevant issues and debates
