Escrow/Swim meet sign up Swim meet entries done on line now. Make sure you sign up for the correct number of events per session you are attending. A list of all entered swimmers will be posted on the website – check this for accuracy If you signed up for the meet and you do not see your swimmers name on the list, contact Coach Chris To determine what events your swimmer is entered in simply check Hytek online or review your entries on meet page.

Returning Swimmer Policy 1. Swimmers who swam the prior entire season. 2. Siblings of #1 3. Swimmers who swam a partial season 4. Siblings of #3 5. Swimmers who swam with BDSC within past year. 6. Siblings of #5 7. New residents to Warren Township High School who swam with a USA club during the past season. 8. WTHS residents, who meet coaches' eligibility requirements. 9. Non WTHS residents, who meet coaches eligibility requirements. Lottery to be held at point that there are more swimmers than spots.

Parent Responsibilities Any violation of the USA Swimming Code of Conduct is a violation of the BDSC code of conduct Swimmers encouraged to attend as many workouts as possible Lane etiquette Watching practice Schedule coaches meetings Send the correct clothing for dryland workouts Swimmers should leave all valuables at home Please notify coach if absent, late

Meets Meet Packets and Heat Sheets: Location of meet, event list, warm up/start times, awards, etc. Heat sheets-slowest to fastest (lists event, heat, lane of all swimmers Session: Usually about 4 hours What to pack: 2 goggles, 2 team caps, team suit/competition suit, 2 towels, change of clothes, healthy snacks, shampoo, etc.

Parent Responsibilities - Meets Be on time – Swimmers should be on deck 15 minutes before their scheduled warm-up time Stay until the coach tells the swimmer it is ok to leave –check if they are on a relay Event entries are done by coaches (with some parent input) No changes after deadlines Respect all officials Athletes report to their coach before and immediately after their event

Swim meets – No Shows If you sign up to attend a meet, go to the meet 2 direct impacts of missing a meet Pay for event not attended Reduces your escrow as it is non-refundable Entry fees & coach fees are non-refundable If you must miss a meet due to emergencies, notify Chris ASAP

Team Gear To promote Team Spirit and Unity Mandatory – Team Cap Suits Team suits Fastskins/Aquablades, etc. Restrictions BDSC Apparel to be worn at meets Blue Devils

Dual/Tri Swim meets 2 - 3 teams (NorthWest Suburban Conference) Half day (often on Sundays) No entry fee, but coach fee is assessed (paid out of escrow account) USA Sanctioned 2 – 4 per season (typically) All ages swim at the same session Good introduction to competition

Invitational Swim meets Many teams (4 – 20) 1 to 2.5 days Age groups are split into different ½ day sessions USA Sanctioned Wider variety of races & competition Some have entry requirements (time standards) Must send in entry fees 4-6 weeks in advance Entry fee & coach fee – paid out of escrow account Entry fees per event and relay Admissions and Heat/Psych sheets

Hosted Meet positions Announcer: Announce events, results and other pertinent information during warm-ups and the meet. Admissions: Collect spectator entry fee and psyche sheet fees at door. Will become floater after fulfilling this position during the meet session. Awards: Prepare and distribute ribbons at the meets Bull Pen: Area where swimmers are organized in their heat/lanes prior to the start of a race. Clean up Crew: Clean up equipment (lane lines, flags, recall rope, touch pads, tables, chairs, etc.) in deck and spectator area after a meet. Floater position.

Hosted Meet positions Concessions: Set up concessions before the meet, sell food during the meet and clean up concession area after the meet. Head Timer: Coordinate timers and relief timers at home meets. Checks watches for functionality and accuracy prior to meet. Marshal: Ensure USA Swimming & ISI safety rules are followed at the meets. Must be on deck at start of warm-ups. Official: Assure that the competition is run fairly. If you are interested in becoming an official, you must attend a 6-hour clinic and register with USA Swimming. Please see Neal Nash for more information. Positive Check-In: Assist swimmers in finding/marking their names on the positive check-in sheet. Will become floater after fulfilling this position during the meet session.

Hosted Meet positions Runner: Collect lane cards from timers and brings them to the scoring table. Scorers Table: Prepare, setup and work computer system at the meet. Enter meet line-ups in advance and print heat sheets prior to the meet. On the job training provided. Security: Supervises all meet areas (except on deck) that are being utilized by the meet participants and meet guests. Setup Crew: Set up equipment (lane lines, flags, recall rope, touch pads, tables, chairs, etc.) in deck area and spectator area prior to meet. Will become floater after fulfilling this position. Timer: Time swimmers with stopwatch & record backup time on lane cards.

Committees

Concessions: Assist chairperson as needed to purchase supplies and food for the home meets and work the concession stand during the meets Publicity: Assist in the club advertising with local papers for BDSC registration and club events. Obtain coverage for home meets and report results to area newspapers. Volunteerism: Coordinate volunteer requirements for each season and ensure that all activities have sufficient volunteers. Tabulate volunteer activities for each family per season. Must be familiar with Word and Excel. Apparel: Responsible for ordering and distribution of the team swim suits and caps from Kiefers. The committee also makes available for purchase various team apparel at the start of each season and during home meets. Social: Assist in the planning and execution for the 2 season-ending banquets, holiday party and other desired social functions for the club.

Banner sales & psych sheet ads: Locate vendors in the community that are willing to sponsor BDSC by purchasing banner to hang at WTHS pool year round. Sell ads for Dash and Blizzard psych sheets. Scrip: Process and distribute orders. Swim-A-Thon: Assist in the planning and execution of the annual team swim-a-thon fundraiser, including working the evening of the swim-a-thon and tabulating results. Photos: Arrange for team photos at start of each season; coordinate purchase of photos, collect money and distribute photos. Membership: Must be available during the day. Prepares materials and coordinates team registration. Monitors team roster to ensure all swimmers are registered with USA Swimming. Awards: Assist with ordering & distribution of ribbons before, during & after all home and conference meets Officials: Attend training classes to become USA swimming official. Timer Information > As a Visiting Team for this Meet The Blue Devils Swim Club is Required to Supply a List of Timers who are Assigned to Time the Events. Assigned Timers must Check-In as Described Below to Receive Credit Toward your Volunteer Commitment to the BDSC. > Parents / Sponsors of Swimmers Registered to Swim in this Meet are Eligible for Assignment as Timers for this Meet. > It is the Responsibility of the Assigned Parent / Sponsor to Fulfill the Volunteer Assignment as Listed in this Notice. > Parents / Sponsors are Responsible to Negotiate Any Assignment Changes with Other Parents / Sponsors Assigned to the Meet or with Other Parents / Sponsors in the Club.
