Unit 4 Geometry

Agenda Tuesday, Take out Avid binder & Go Math Workbook (homework) Place Book bags in designated area Begin working on Bell ringer ( After Bell ringer is complete, format your paper for Cornell notes Homework Check Unit 4 Vocabulary Notes Topic: Geometry Terminology E.Q.-What are the terminology and their definitions in relation to Unit 4-Geometry? Review Cornell Notes for Unit 4 Vocabulary Quiz on Friday Homework Pg. 9 Due Friday Bell Ringer Math 24 Activity Object of the game: Make the number 24 from the four numbers shown. You can add, subtract, multiply and divide. Use all four numbers on the card, but use each number only once. You do not have to use all four operations. All number nines have a red center, so you can tell a nine from a six. Can you solve the card below?

Math 24 Answer 15+9=24 (3*5)+(4+5) = 24

Introduction video

Complementary Angle: Two angles whose sum
Vocabulary Adjacent Angle: Angles in the same plane that have a common vertex and a common side, but no common interior points. Vertical Angles: Two nonadjacent angles formed by intersecting lines or segments. Also called opposite angles. Complementary Angle: Two angles whose sum is 90 degrees. A + B = 90⁰ Supplementary Angle: Two angles whose sum is 180 degrees. A + B = 180⁰

Vocabulary Regular Polygon: A polygon with all sides equal (equilateral) and all angles equal (equiangular). Irregular Polygon: A polygon with sides not equal and/or angles not equal. Circumference: The distance around a circle. Pi: The relationship of the circle’s circumference to its diameter, when used in calculations, pi is typically approximated as 3.14; the relationship between the circumference (C) and diameter (d),

Vocabulary Congruent: Having the same size, shape and measure. A ≅ B denotes that A is congruent to B. Parallel Lines: Two lines are parallel if they lie in the same plane, and they do not intersect. Cross- section: A plane figure obtained by slicing a solid with a plane.
