Cellular Respiration Occurs in both plants and animals!
All eukaryotes respire. Cellular respiration is the opposite of photosynthesis.

glycolysis Begins with glycolysis in the cytoplasm
Glycolysis is an anaerobic reaction because no oxygen is present. Glucose is broken down to pyruvic acid. Only 2 molecules of ATP are produced.

Kreb’s cycle and etc The other two steps occur in the mitochondria
Kreb’s cycle and Electron Transport Chain Both are aerobic reactions because oxygen is present. Kreb’s cycle produces 2 ATPs ETC produces 32 ATPs

Fermentation Anaerobic conversion of sugar to carbon dioxide and alcohol by yeast. Products are also ethanol or lactic acid.
