1 Dot Plots

2 Do Now - Example What is the maximum? What is the minimum?
What is the range?

3 Objective and Agenda - Example
I understand how I will be graded in Algebra 1. I can represent a data set using a dot plot and calculate the minimum, maximum, and range of the data set. Agenda Professional video (5) Class Portfolio Overview (10) Class Binder Set Up (15) Class Making Dot Plots (15) Groups Closure/Exit Ticket (10) Independent

4 Professional Video

5 Students Materials: Binder – 5 sections: Portfolio Tracker on top Do Now Notes: date, objective, notes Definitions Homework Resources: fundamental math resources, tutor resources, etc.

6 Homework Expectations:
Three problems a night will be provided: a high, medium, and low. You will be required to do two of them, the medium and one other. I will post the final answer but not the work. These will be turned in at the beginning of class. Won’t count as evidence but will be documented

7 Assessments: Once a week quizzes - Thursdays You go over them in tutorial on Fridays Quizzes will be similar to homework questions and questions of the day. Unit pre and post tests will be given in place of weekly quizzes.

8 Assessments: You must get a 3 or 4 for every standard to pass If you get two 4’s on Thursday quizzes it will automatically count as a 3 for the unit test. A = ’s on Unit Tests (all else 3’s) B = 4 – 7 4’s on Unit Tests (all else 3’s) C = 0 – 3 4’s on Unit Tests (all else 3’s) F = <11 3’s on Unit Tests

9 Portfolio Problems: You must complete all required portfolio problems to take the unit test. Everyone will take the quizzes each week.

11 Questions about grading?

12 Make up a possible scenario for the data. Add a title and labels.
With your group, complete the following in your notes for the data set given to you: Make a dot plot Find the maximum Find the minimum Find the range Make up a possible scenario for the data. Add a title and labels.

13 1. Find the min, max, and range for the following data set: 7, 3, 4, 32, 8, 10, 5, 2, 2, 2, 8, 3 2. If the range for a data set is 25 and the minimum is 12, what is the maximum? 3. Do you access to the internet at home?
