History and Government Team-Based Learning Unit - Elections Dr. Jennifer Danley-Scott Unit objectives & organization Revisions over semesters Final instructions or prompt Example of completed assignment Objective: Ensure students understand how state decisions (districting, campaigns, campaign finance, and voting laws) affect their political voice. The activities are designed to support our component area’s core objectives: Critical Thinking: creative thinking, innovation, inquiry, and analysis, evaluation and synthesis of information Personal Responsibility: to include the ability to connect choices, actions and consequences to ethical decision-making Social Responsibility: intercultural competence, knowledge of civic responsibility, and the ability to engage effectively in regional, national, and global communities. Communication: effective development, interpretation and expression of ideas through written, oral and visual communication Unit has three components: Individual readiness test and team readiness test personal quiz IFAT scratch quiz 2) Class / team exercises voting cards written / gallery walk (pictured) 3) Individual short research paper (pictured) Voting card question changed to an application with case study. B B Activities are combined by including more signs, cues, and discussion points. Changed to be a more creative activity and allow teams to see and comment on other teams’ ideas.
