Directions are in slide notes. You can view them in two ways. 1 Go to view and choose Note Pages and then scroll from page to page. Or 2. Click on the outline view in the task pane to the left, zoom the work area, the notes should be easily read. You can always use the lower scroll bars to read the notes. At the end of the last class we stopped work after converting the windows metafile to a PNG. Select the graphic from the first slide and copy it. Now open Paint. Go to start button > programs> Accessories> paint. Click on paste. Use the paint tools to remove the grey shadow from the soccer ball.

2 Magnify the graphic by using the zoom bar in the lower right corner of Paint. This is at 800 magnification. It is easier to see each pixel that needs to be deleted. Click on select and select free-form selection tools/ draw an area similar to what is show on this slide. Be sure you connect the area/ then press delete. Repeat drawing areas until the vast majority of the grey area has been deleted.

3 Select the eraser. The cursor will change to a square
Select the eraser. The cursor will change to a square. You can change the size of the eraser square by selecting from the size box. Remove/erase all other traces of Grey.

4 While still in Paint, Select the Rectangle selection tool and select the edited graphic. Make your selection close to the graphic, keep the box small. Now copy and paste the edited graphic to your first slide in PPTSample SAVE the PPTSample. Right click on the graphic and save the picture as “soccerball RT”. Delete the original ball with the shadow. Ctrl S (save)

Look to the left and select the recolor box down arrow. If you move the cursor over each area of modes and variation you will get a preview of what the graphic would look like if that were selected. Cursor to the very bottom of that box and click on Set Transparent Color The cursor will change to a shape that resembles a marker with an angle at the bottom.

7 When you put the cursor on the white background and then click it reads the color, which is white, and makes that color transparent. It is important to know that anything that is white that sits on the background will also be made transparent. Reset the background color to white by clicking on DESIGN and choose white.

ESC is at the upper left of the keyboard. Save your work.

9 Save the soccer layer as a PNG
Save the soccer layer as a PNG. Copy over into Paint and remove the grass and the soccerball. Then isolate his right lower leg and save that as leg a PNG. Resave the body without the right leg as a PNG named body. Copy and paste into PowerPoint . Save.

10 Pivot point is in the center of the object ( the leg)
During the last class you should have had some time to explore and experiment with the animation effects. You probably discovered that using spin would not produce the desired effect to have the leg kick the ball. You probably discovered the pivot point was in the middle of the leg rather than at the top. You need to keep that idea in mind for the next lesson.

11 Add a new slide to use as a scratch slide
Add a new slide to use as a scratch slide. Paste a copy of the leg and adjust it so it is level. Now draw a rectangular shape about the same size as the leg. Go to Insert > shapes and choose the rectangle.

12 Move the rectangle up to extend the length of the leg
Move the rectangle up to extend the length of the leg. We are making the leg twice as large. Now select the leg. Hold the shift key down and select the rectangle. You will see two boxes with two green circles. This means you have selected both objects.

13 2 objects 1 object You will now combine the two selected objects into one object. To do this make sure both objects are selected. Click on Picture Tools and find Group (look off to the right) click on the down arrow and click on group. Notice the two boxes will be replaced with one box. This means the two objects are now a single object.

14 Now is the time to think about the center of the object as the pivot point. Where is the center of the new object? Exactly! Just where we want the object to pivot around. The only thing we need to do is make the extension to the leg invisible.. To do that : Click on the object then click on the blue rectangle. Right click on the blue rectangle and select Format shape.

15 Click on Fill, solid fill and then move the Transparency slider from 0% to 100%. Then Click on Line Color and move the Transparency slider from 0% to 100%

16 The extension is now invisible in the new extended object
The extension is now invisible in the new extended object. Notice the size of the select box. The graphic is now ready to be animated.

17 Copy and paste the new graphic to you slide with the body
Copy and paste the new graphic to you slide with the body. Position the leg. Remember you might need to set the graphics to transparent. ( use recolor). Resize and position the ball. Ezplore and experiment with the animation settings. Next slide will review settings.

18 To enter new degree delete existing ,type in new value then press ENTER. New value will not keep unless enter is pressed. Don’t forget to coordinate start.

19 Save the file as your first initial and last name then soccer
When you have finished the animation create a background suitable for the graphic. Save the file as your first initial and last name then soccer Example: amooresoccer Submit file in Class Share >Student Drop> 8th Grade> your class period folder.
