3 Emergency/Disaster Preparedness
Fires and earthquakes happen. Let’s discuss what we can do before, during and after an emergency to improve the likelihood of survival and recovery. Herein is an evacuation plan that includes a logical escape route away from the danger as you know it. Before During After Prepare! Act Quickly! Stay Safe! Emergency Exit Plan

4 Act Quickly FIRE: In a fire, alert others. Leave behind personal items. Exit the office. As you do so stay close to the floor and move quickly to the nearest exit. Do not delay. Smoke makes it hard to see, and most fire deaths are caused by smoke inhalation. Seconds can make the difference between life and death. EARTHQUAKE: In an earthquake get under sturdy furniture or next to an inside wall. Expect aftershocks, and get outside and away from buildings as soon as you can. Trained rescuers may not arrive for hours, so try to rescue others if you can. Emergency Exit Plan

5 Act Quickly Assist any co-workers with mobility issues to leave the building. Look out for each other. Meet with your fellow staff members in the parking lot to the right of the building, past the dumpsters, along Kearny Villa Road so that we can account for all present in the office. Care for any injured co-workers. Make plans to evacuate the area, if necessary. Assist each other to return home. Follow the instructions of local authorities. Evacuation routes, if necessary, are I-15, Hwy 52 and Hwy Use local streets if the roads are congested. Local radio stations may have information that you need to know. The primary Emergency Alert System for San Diego County is KOGO AM 600 and KLSD AM 1360. Emergency Exit Plan

6 Act Quickly (Shelter in Place)
In the case of an earthquake, if the local authorities direct you to shelter in place, stay inside until it is safe to depart. Use first aid supplies, if appropriate. Look out for each other. Listen to local radio stations for news. The primary Emergency Alert System for San Diego County is KOGO AM 600 and KLSD AM 1360. Stay indoors until authorities announce that the threat has passed. Emergency Exit Plan

7 Communicate LOCAL EMERGENCY NUMBER: 911
It is helpful if we know where you are. That is why we implemented the sign-in sheet at the Chesapeake address. We want to ensure that everyone is out of the building in case there is a need to evacuate. If you plan to leave the building during working hours, let us know. This will enable us to account for your absence. During an emergency, alert others. Let a senior manager know of your whereabouts. Texting is best because it uses fewer power resources. Note: staff phone numbers are accessible via the BambooHR mobile app. LOCAL EMERGENCY NUMBER: 911 Non-Emergency Number - San Diego County Sheriff (858) Emergency Exit Plan

8 Stay Safe! If you must leave the building after an emergency…
Seek shelter (go home). Carpool if necessary, to shelter. Keep in touch. Keep your daily routine as much as possible. Acknowledge that disaster causes loss. Recognize and address emotional injury (Grief is part of the natural healing process). Embrace your faith. Emergency Exit Plan
