Designed Programme from May 2017 to Dec 2017 Farmer consultation and engagement v NB in this 5 full-time staff 2 partner organisations –accountants and HH monitoring team Programme launched 1500 applications within 3 months

Supporting actions payment Hen Harrier payment Open call with reduced burden on farmer HHP team do farm plan Send out pack with field maps, approved advisors, contract and T&Cs

6 Hen Harrier Programme Farmer signs contract, hires an advisor and they submit a payment claim Fields scored out of 10 Scores of <4 receive no money Payment issued within 5 months Farmer can apply for Supporting Actions payments Should help improve habitat scores This payment will issues with habitat payment in 2019

7 Hen Harrier Programme Hen Harrier Payment is paid in March
Coincides with the return of HH to breeding grounds Adds value to the HH as a resource to the farmer SPA-level objective so all farmers in SPAs share in it if target reached Additional payments for farmers close to nests that established and fledged young Repeat

8 Advisory A well-trained advisory service is key to deliver this type pf programme 4 days training Field support Feedback mechanisms Additional training Advisor checks (40% in year 1) High input at outset but builds up an important skills-base

HNVf areas are probably best targeted for the delivery of: Biodiversity Carbon sequestration Water quality Soil quality Vibrant rural communities Other areas could also deliver one or more of these
