Definitions Ordered Pairs – a set of “x” and “y” coordinates written in the form (x1, y1) Coordinate Plane – a graph composed of the x-axis and y-axis that intersect at the origin (0,0). The plane is divided into four quadrants.
3
Coordinate Plane The y-axis is the vertical number line. Quadrant II
The x-axis is the horizontal number line. Origin Quadrant III Quadrant IV
4
Ordered Pair An ordered pair is a pair of numbers, such as (-3, 2) used to locate a point in the coordinate plane. H 2 is the y coordinate H (-3, 2) -3 is the x coordinate

Graphing and Identifying Ordered Pairs
Graph the Ordered Pair. A (4, 3) B (-1, -2) C (3, -4) Write the Ordered Pair. P V W A V B W (1, 6) C (5, 0) (-5, -4)
