1 GUMMY BEAR LAB

2 RESULTS

3 WHY? Why did the gummy bear in the distilled water swell?
Why did the gummy bear in the salt solution shrink and harden? Did the color of the gummy bear have anything to do with it? What was moving? What transport is this? What solution do cells strive to have? Why?

4 What are these solutions? A? B? C?

5 If I added eggs to vinegar . . .
When you add an egg to vinegar, hypothesize what you think will happen. Draw the egg for Day 1 before placed in vinegar.

6 Results . . . Describe what is happening . . . .
Then draw the results of what happened to the egg on day 2. What process has occurred?

7 Egg in sucrose Hypothesize what you think will happen when eggs are placed in sucrose (corn syrup) solution & draw egg as it is for day 1!

8 Practice Predictions

9 More Practice

10 Even More Practice

11 Warm-up 1. See and record results from egg lab, draw & predict what will happen when placed in distilled water on your osmosis story board sheet! 2. Grade worksheet from yesterday: KEY: (Cell, Environment, & state) 2. (arrow goes in) swells, hypotonic, cytolysis 3. (arrow goes out) shrinks, hypertonic, plasmolysis 4. (arrow goes in) swells, hypotonic, cytolysis 5. (arrows go in and out) normal, isotonic 6. (arrow goes out) shrinks, hypertonic, plasmolysis 7. (arrow goes in) swells, hypotonic, cytolysis 8. (arrow goes in) swells, hypotonic, cytolysis 9. (arrows go in and out) normal, isotonic 3. Get table of contents in order
