2 What is a table? Tables are used to organise and present information in formatted rows and columns

3 Parts of a table A table is made up of columns and rows
Each square is called a cell Cells can include: text, numbers, graphics, formulas Where a column and row meet (intersect) this is given a cell reference eg A1 is Column A Row 1

4 Tables can be used for whole page layouts
This table has 32 rows Some cells have been merged

5 Tables can contain extremely complex data
Numbers in columns can be aligned Borders can be printed or not printed

6 Tables can have styles applied to them
This makes them more easily read and enhances their appearance

7 Table Tools When you insert a table you get an extra ribbon and extra tabs on the ribbon
