1 Vocabulary set #2 Dabble: to work or involve oneself superficially or intermittently especially in a secondary activity or interest Morose: having a sullen and gloomy disposition Imperious: having or showing the proud and unpleasant attitude of someone who gives orders and expects other people to obey them Anguish: extreme suffering, grief, or pain Contort: to twist into an unusual appearance or shape Complacent: satisfied with how things are and not wanting to change them Liniment: a liquid that is rubbed on your skin to relieve pain or stiffness in your muscles Derision: the feeling that people express when they criticize and laugh at someone or something in an insulting way Receptive: willing to listen to or accept ideas, suggestions, etc. Quiver: to shake because of fear, cold, nervousness, etc.

Rheumatism: a disease that causes stiffness and pain in the muscles and swelling and pain in the joints Conceal: to hide (something or someone) from sight Accumulate: to gather or acquire (something) gradually as time passes Sullen: used to describe an angry or unhappy person who does not want to talk, smile, etc Indignation: anger caused by something that is unfair or wrong Avert: to turn (your eyes, gaze, etc.) away or aside Appraise: to give your opinion about the condition, quality, or importance of (something or someone that you have studied or examined) Crestfallen: very sad and disappointed Jeer: to shout insulting words at someone : to laugh at or criticize someone in a loud and angry way Monotonous: used to describe something that is boring because it is always the same
