10 Activities Task Force Training
Develop training guidelines/materials Organize regional workshops for training focal points of HBCs In our first meeting, a little more than a year ago, in spetember 2001, we concluded that the information on country specific training needs is limited. For the work of the Task Force Training, the activities of the TBCTA-partners and more in general, the DOTS expansion a good assessment of country specific training needs is necessary. We need to determine the resources and barriers to DOTS implementation, with regard to Human resource development. So, we decided to organise regional workshops. In which we, together with particpants with various backgrounds and experiences will work on - the assessment of HRD/training needs and facilitate - the development of training/HRD strategic plans for each country. This workshop for the African region is the first workshop. Based on these experiences we will organise a second workshop for the Asian region, next year. I think the workshop is an unique event: -first because of the topic. Training, or better HRD-as we prefer to look broader than just organising training courses - is a topic on may conferences, workshop and courses. But rarely one spends four whole days in one workshop determing the HRD needs and in designing strategic plans for HRD - second because of the audience in which country training focal points, TB consultants, USAID country persons and international training specialist meet and learn from each other. On behalf of the Task Force Training I wish you a valuable and instructive experience at this workshop, which I hope will support you in your work to slow the TB epidemic.
