MacArthur 2018 – 2019 Curriculum Day

4 MacArthur SMART GOALS READING: WRITING: MATH:
By June 2019, there will be a 5% increase in students K – 5 reading on grade level when comparing BOY and EOY in Fontas and Pinnell’s Benchmark Assessments. WRITING:   By the end of June 2019, 75% of Second - Fifth Graders will show growth of 50% or better on summarizing skills based on the DDI assessments. MATH: By the end of June 2019, all kindergarteners will achieve a 90% on the EOY math assessment.      By the end of June 2019, all first graders will achieve a 80% on the EOY math assessment.   By the end of June 2019, all second graders will show growth of 27 points according to i-Ready EOY assessment. By the end of June 2019, all third graders will show growth of 27 points according to i-Ready EOY assessment.   By the end of June 2019, all fourth graders will show growth of 22 points according to i-Ready EOY assessment.   By the end of June 2019, all fifth graders will show growth of 20 points according to i-Ready EOY assessment.

5 MacArthur SMART GOALS TEACHER PRACTICE: SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL:
Starting in September 2018, 100% of PLC agendas will be developed by grade level teams and school leaders before each PLC meeting. Agendas should ensure that teachers review data about identified students’ academic and social emotional learning, develop action plans regarding next steps, and create cycles for ongoing review of evidence of student progress.     SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL: By October 2018, Morning Meetings will be held daily in 100% of classrooms in the building. Continue to provide professional development and monitoring around Morning Meetings to support full implementation and reflection of effectiveness of the model in supporting a consistent, building wide approach for social emotional and academic learning.   FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: By June of 2019, teachers will increase the number of opportunities for parent celebrations during the school year, expanding  the  Smart Goal of having each teacher invite families into the school for Writing Workshop celebrations to include similar celebrations of work in more content areas which will be held during a variety of times to include both during the school day and after the school day.

7 Title I – Parental Involvement
School-Parent Compact: Identifies the activities that the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will undertake to share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. The School’s responsibility is to provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment. Parent are responsible for supporting their children’s learning (i.e., monitoring attendance, homework, television watching, etc.) The importance of communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis through, Parent-Teacher conferences, frequent reports to parents on their child’s progress; and, reasonable access to staff, opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class.

School begins at 7:50AM and ends at 2:40 PM Safe Schools – Web site; Telephone #; App Communication “Educators alone cannot help children develop intellectually, personally, socially, and morally – develop all the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to be productive citizens and caring people as adults”. Educating children to live in our rapidly changing and increasingly complex society “requires contributions and commitments from everyone in the community”. Dismissal Notes must be written to teachers indicating a change in your child’s normal way of going home PTA Join - $6.00 Monthly Meetings – Second Monday of the month – 5:30 PM If your child is a busser and you are choosing to pick up your child at the end of they day, or want them to ride another bus, you MUST write a note to their teacher indicating this. The note is presented to the main office where we keep a record of this. We cannot have parents coming to the bus circle taking students off the bus.
