9 Who is the Audience? The group of people who are intended to view or listen to a speech or advertisement -To whom is this text directed? It’s not enough to say: “Anyone who reads it.” Is it one individual, a group, many groups? What assumptions can you make about the intended audience? Consider a variety of options: gender? Race? Class? Age-Group? Interest group? How do you know the intended audience?

Restatement: Repeating one idea in a variety of ways.
