2 August 20, INB Pages 16-17 BW: Write the Ready to Read statements in your book on page 7 and mark each true or false. CW: Look at the questions below and try to make a list of traits that would prove that something is alive or dead on your classwork page. If you were exploring a new ecosystem, like deep in the ocean, or on a distant planet, how would you determine whether a specimen you are observing is alive or not? What does it mean to be alive? How is “dead” related to being living? Can something that was never living be dead? Why or why not? Does every living thing have to have the same qualities and abilities? If so, which ones? What characteristics may non-living things have that make them appear alive?

3 August 20th, continued In your group, put your lists together and group similar traits until you come up with one list of 5-8 traits. Put your group’s list on the side board. HW: What do you think is the difference between dead and non-living?

4 August 21, INB Page 18-19 BW: Glue in the Data Table for today to your classwork page and write your list of characteristics of life under the word “Characteristics.” The use your glossary to define the words food chain and food web. CW: Move around the room and use your data table to mark Y for yes or N for no on each characteristic you chose for each station. HW: Give another example of each something alive, something dead, something non-living.

5 Wed Aug 22, INB 20-21 BW: Use Chp 1 Lesson 1 to answer: List the characteristics of life that plants and animals share. CW: Complete the post lab questions, on your own, in class and turn in to the period bucket. This will be checked for a grade and returned to you to glue in your notebook on page 21! HW: Draw a food chain using pictures.

6 Thurs Aug 23 INB 22-23 BW: Name 3 ways that the organisms in a food chain get energy, Textbook page 14 CW: Cut, Match, and glue the Characteristics of Life on INB Page 23. Use textbook page 15 to help you. HW: What are 3 ways that the organisms in a food chain use energy.

7 Friday Aug 24 INB 24-25 BW: Is it an organism? - Write the answer you chose and explain why you think so. CW: Glue down the questions to the video about viruses and bacteria and try to fill in the blanks during the video. HW: Explain how a tree shows each of the 6 characteristics of life.
