Situatie: Her friend didn’t arrive on time and they were late at the party.
She would rather her friend had arrived on time.
Situatie: Jenny got a poor mark and her mother was very angry.
Jenny’s mother would rather her daughter had learned more.

Situatie: Do you want me to bring that book next week?
I would rather (I’d rather) you would bring it tomorrow.
