2. Beat (meter)
3 = Three beats per measure 4 = Quarter note gets the count

3. Rhythm Whole Rest = 4 beats Dotted Half Note = 3 beats
Half Rest = 2 beats
Single Eighth Note = ½ beat

4. Expression Major – Usually sounds “happy” or “bright” to western ears
Minor – Usually sounds “sad” or “dark” to western ears

5. Dynamics
PP= Pianissimo (very quiet)
FF = Fortissimo (very loud)

6. Form Bar Line – Divides measures
Measure – The space between two bar lines.
Final Double Bar Line – Shows that the song has ended.
