3. Jonah Ran Away Jonah 1
2Ki 14:23 ¶ In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, became king in Samaria, and reigned forty-one years.
2Ki 14:25 He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath as far as the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, which He spoke through His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath-hepher.

4. Why Wouldn’t He Do It?
Jonah saw the people of Nineveh as enemies - He did NOT want them to receive mercy - Perhaps he despised Gentiles - Perhaps he saw what they would do Hosea 10:6-7 2 Kings 8:11-12
Ho 10:6 The thing itself will be carried to Assyria As tribute to King Jareb; Ephraim will be seized with shame And Israel will be ashamed of its own counsel. 7 Samaria will be cut off with her king Like a stick on the surface of the water.
2Ki 8:11 He fixed his gaze steadily on him until he was ashamed, and the man of God wept. 12 Hazael said, "Why does my lord weep?" Then he answered, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword, and their little ones you will dash in pieces, and their women with child you will rip up."

5. I Won’t Do It!

I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
1Sa 10:22 Therefore they inquired of the LORD further, "Has the man come here yet?" And the LORD answered, "There he is, hidden among the equipment.

6. Lessons
God calls us today to His kingdom - To serve Him - To honor and glorify Him - To sacrifice to Him God calls us to go to the world
Evangelists are also called preachers and ministers.
An archaic word is Parson, from latin “Persona” of the church
Many churches today call preachers Pastors; this is NOT correct, as Pastors are elders (Acts 20:17)

7. Lessons
You cannot escape God - No where can you flee - God reveals our iniquities You must be able to love your enemies - Matthew 5:43-48

9. What Must I Do To Be Saved?
