1. Compounds and their Molecular Formulas
Today you are going to make molecule models for several commonly used compounds. COMPOUND =a chemical combination of two or more elements MOLECULE=two or more atoms joined together Step 1: Choose 4 different Compounds. (WRITTEN ON WHITE BOARD) Step 2: Choose colored construction paper to represents a specific ELEMENT/atom for your compound. Step 3: Cut out CIRCLES that will represent each Element/Atom in your molecular formula. (Note the # of molecules) Step 4: Gather your circles/molecules and glue them to your large paper . Draw lines to connect the molecules. Step 5: Label each molecule (circle) with it’s element symbol and write the compound name and molecular formula under each completed molecule model. Step 6: Write your name, period and date on bottom right hand corner.
