1 Welcome Back to School Ms. Barreto

2 Meet the Teacher FIU Alumni Certified in grades K-6 Teaching for 16 years 4th Grade Math, Science, and Social Studies

3 School Hours Before Care 7:00 am – 8:15 am Breakfast 7:50 am
Drop off 8:00 am D.E.A.R. Time 8:00 am – 8:25 am Dismissal 3:00 pm After Care 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm Mini Care 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm In order to attend After Care on the first day of school, the child must be signed up prior to the first day of school. The deadline is Friday, August 17 by 2pm. There is a $25 registration fee.

4 Parental Involvement Parent volunteers must be cleared by MDCPS Must be done annually Parent Portal Access is available on the iMater Elementary website Sign up for the iMater List on iMater’s Website

5 Attendance and Tardy Procedures
After 5 consecutive student absences, a doctor’s note is required. After 5 handwritten parent excused notes, a doctor’s note is required. Tardies will be marked unexcused.

6 Arrival Procedures All vehicles must enter the school from the east driveway and drive to the designated drop off/pick up area. Students must not exit vehicles from the entrance lane of the school driveway or from 20th street. The west side of the building is for parent and bus drop off in the mornings and bus pick-up in the afternoons. It is not permitted to park on the west side of the building AT ANY TIME. You may walk your children to their classrooms during the first 3 days of school ONLY (Monday, August 20 - Wednesday, August 22).

7 Dismissal Procedures Enter the school from the east driveway.
Parents will be allowed to wait for their children behind the fence in the designated pick-up section. Parents must present the “Parent Pick-Up Decal” at the time of pick-up. Students must not enter vehicles from the entrance lane of the school driveway or from 20th street. Parents are discouraged from picking up students enrolled in the After Care program during regular dismissal times. Hialeah Police Department will enforce traffic and safety rules. At 2:50 PM, 3rd – 5th grade students with siblings in the lower grades, will pick up their siblings before departing to their dismissal post. Sibling Authorization Form. Fill out Student Dismissal Chart.

9 Supplies Supply List is posted on the school website
Students will have the first week of school to gather and organize supplies Sign and Return necessary forms Teacher Wish List (Georgia-Pacific Copy Paper) ***NO ROLLING BOOKBAGS***

10 Curriculum Rigorous Curriculum Textbooks will be available online
Reading/Writing Across the Curriculum Emphasis on Vocabulary and Spelling Classroom aides will be assisting in small group instruction Students will be utilizing the science and computer labs (headsets required) $5 Science Fee Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) April through May

11 Home Learning Home Learning will be assigned daily
including weekends and holidays Students must complete 1 session of iReady Math and 1 session of iReady Reading weekly. Lack of Home Learning may affect students’ grades. School information and updates are constantly posted on the iMater Elementary Website, Facebook, and Instagram. It is important that the students memorize their lunch numbers during the first weeks of school.

12 The entire school will be on a weighted scale:
Grading The entire school will be on a weighted scale: Tests: 40% Quizzes: 25% Classwork: 20% Home Learning: 15%

13 If a student does not have lunch money:
They will have a 5 day grace period of negative charges in order to bring the lunch account up-to-date. After the 5 day grace period, students will be served a ham sandwich and fruit juice.

Navy Blue and White Rugby Long Sleeve Polo Khaki Bermuda Shorts or Pants Black Belt All Black or Black and White Converse Sneakers ONLY White or Black Socks Solid Navy Blue Sweater LANYARDS ARE TO BE WORN ON A DAILY BASIS. IF LOST, THERE WILL BE A $15 FEE TO REPLACE IT. SPIRIT SHIRTS ARE MANDATORY FOR FIELD TRIPS DRESS CODE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED FROM THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

16 Parent Volunteer Hours
Must be cleared through MDCPS to enter the building, participate in student birthdays, chaperone, etc. In order to get cleared you must visit the MDCPS Parent Portal – instructions are posted on the iMater Website. Must complete 30 hours per child ($3 per every hour) Cash or gift cards are accepted Classroom donations are also accepted but must have a RECEIPT. ALL VOLUNTEER HOURS MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE DUE DATE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN DIFFERENT END OF THE YEAR EVENTS

17 Visitors New system for visitors Must ring the bell
Must present a valid Florida Identification Card or Driver’s License

18 Birthday Party Schedule
Birthday Parties Birthday Party Schedule September 20 October 17 November 14 December 19 January 23 February 20 March 20 April 17 May 15 June 5 Celebrated during lunch. Contact me a week before to make arrangements of what items to bring. Parents receive volunteer hours for donations for class birthdays. If your child cannot participate due to religious reasons, please inform me via or note.
