2. The two party-system
Only two parties have the chance to win major elections.
Since most elections are winner take all (single- member districts) major parties always win.
Democrats and republicans have worked together to shape laws that hinder minor parties.

3. Multiparty System Allows more than two parties to win major offices.
Most parties focus on a certain issue:
Labor party
Economic party
Conservative party
Environmental party
Several parties usually have to form a coalition (alliance) to gain control of the government.

4. One-Party System Usually used in dictatorships.
Sometimes called no party system. Only ruling power allowed.
Can be found in several U.S. States
Not the same as dictatorships.
Other parties exist but loses most elections.
