Determine if the doctrine of fair use applies to your particular use of a copyrighted work.
If so, use the copyrighted work freely in your own creative work.
If not, then ask permission of the copyright holder.
Pay a license fee if needed.
Or use copyright cleared resources (like Creative Commons) as an alternative selection.
