“European dimension Strengthening the European dimension in vocational education and training with the aim of improving closer cooperation in order to facilitate and promote mobility and the development of inter-institutional cooperation, partnerships and other transnational initiatives, all in order to raise the profile of the European education and training area in an international context so that Europe will be recognised as a world-wide reference for learners.”

What it declares? reinforcing the European dimension in VET; increasing information, guidance and counselling on, as well as the transparency of VET; Developing tools for the mutual recognition and validation of competences and qualifications; improving quality assurance in VET. Maastricht 2004, Helsinki 2006, Bordeaux 2008, Brugge 2010…

6 European Union and 2011-2020 objectives in VET
making initial VET an attractive learning option. fostering the excellence, quality and relevance of VET to the labour market enabling flexible access to training and qualifications encouraging international mobility in VET promoting innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, and the use of new technologies. making VET accessible to all There will still remain national level curriculums, structures, ways to run VET! Basic idea is to rise the quality of VET.

How this all will be seen in practice. Example Kainuu Vocational College? Development of VET European Quality Assurance Reference Framework: quality management system, VET College quality competitions in Finland, nr1 Peer review, auditing of actions Common European level development projects in VET (skills, curriculums, on-the-job –training) Mobility EQF, comparison of skills ECVET, tested and implemented in Finland Students in core!

International projects: Leonardo da Vinci (Erasmus), Comenius, Grundtvig. Partners during years from Estonia, UK, Ireland, Hungary,  France, Germany Slovakia, Czech Republic,  Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Italy... Interreg (Scotland, Iceland, Sweden...) Nordplus (Sweden, Denmark, Estonia...) other sources or own funds (Japan, India...) A lot of national and international partnerships National projects: ESF, ERDF, EAGGF, Equal, ENPI, other sources Activities in EFVET and IVETA
