Dry Ice By:Sydney Pollard Completed:11/28/14

2 Scientific Question What liquid will have the biggest impact on dry ice?

3 Background I chose this question because I have been interested recently about dry ice. The liquids I chose are common and can be bought at the store. I came up with the project idea myself.

4 Hypothesis If we test how dry ice reacts with lemon juice, water, and Sprite then, lemon juice will have the best reaction

5 Variables Independent-Type of liquid Dependent-How much dry ice I used
Constant-What liquids I used

6 Procedure Fill water bottle with 500ml of liquid
Put one gram of dry ice in the water bottle. Let sit until next day. Record data. Repeat process two times.

7 Data Lemon Juice Sprite Water 300 400 250 500 450 400 350 300 250 200
150 100

8 Conclusion What liquid has the bigger reaction to dry ice?
In the experiment, I tested dry ice with lemon juice, sprite, and water. Water reacted the most to the dry ice. The data does not support my hypothesis because I predicted lemon juice would react the most with dry ice. I learned dry ice is really cold and you should probably never touch it. No problems occurred, but next time I would like to use Coca Cola.
